The winch serial number is the single
most important piece of information about your winch. All BRADEN
Winch products will have a 7 digit number steel stamped into
the housing. The first 2 digits of the serial number are the
year the winch was manufactured. The remaining 5 digits are
assigned based on this units "count" in the production
for the year. The example below was the 1234th winch built in
1984.
Carco Winch products and Gearmatic
Winch products share the same format for units manufactured
after 1985.
